Anchor

Incremental backups for Windows, with versions, restore and proof that it worked.

FreeWindows 10 / 11ENMITv1.2.0

Anchor copies the folders you choose to a USB drive, a network share, your OneDrive folder, or a NAS over SFTP or WebDAV. It only copies what changed since the last run, keeps older versions of each file, and checks after every run that everything really arrived.

What it does

  • Backs up to local drives, USB, network shares, OneDrive folders, SFTP and WebDAV.
  • Only copies what changed: fast by size and date, or exact by SHA-256.
  • Keeps previous versions of each file, against bad edits and ransomware.
  • Restore screen: pick a file and a version, put it back where it was or somewhere else.
  • Checks after every run that each file is at the destination.
  • Scheduling with Windows Task Scheduler: daily, weekly or at sign-in.
  • Passwords for remote destinations are kept in Windows Credential Manager, never in plain text.

Good to know

  • Set it up once, schedule it and forget it, or run it by hand.
