 AutoReply — v5.0 (2026-09-27)
=========================================================================

WHAT YOU NEED
-------------
A web browser. That is all. No install, no runtime, no account.
Works on Windows, macOS and Linux.

THE TWO FILES
-------------
Keep these two together in the same folder:

    Auto_Reply_Generator.html the tool
contacts.js your settings, signature and contacts

The page loads contacts.js by itself when it opens. If the two are
separated, the address book and your signature come up empty.

Start from contacts.example.js: copy it, rename the copy to
contacts.js, and put your own details in it. You can edit it in
Notepad, or just fill the fields in the page and press
"Save as my defaults".

HOW TO USE IT
-------------
1. Double-click Auto_Reply_Generator.html. It opens in your browser.
2. Pick the reason, the dates and who stands in for you.
3. Choose Internal or External, and tick the languages you want.
4. Press "Copy (formatted)".
5. Paste into your mail program's automatic-reply box.

In Outlook that is File -> Automatic Replies. There are two tabs, one
for inside your organisation and one for outside. The page gives you
the right text for each - switch between Internal and External and
copy twice.

If pasting loses the formatting, use Ctrl+Shift+V for plain text, or
the "Copy (plain text)" button.

SAVING YOUR SETTINGS
--------------------
Three buttons write back to contacts.js:

Save as my defaults the whole form, as your starting point
Save signature your name, job title and department
Save to contacts.js the address book

On Chrome and Edge the browser asks once where contacts.js lives, then
saves silently after that. On Firefox and Safari it falls back to a
normal download, which you copy back into the folder yourself. The
page tells you which happened.

IF SOMETHING LOOKS WRONG
------------------------
Look under section 5. It should say how many contacts were loaded from
contacts.js. If it says the file was not found, the two files are not
in the same folder.

WHERE YOUR DATA GOES
--------------------
Nowhere. The page makes no network requests. contacts.js stays on your
own computer and is read and written only by you.
